Caitlin Clark's transition to the WNBA hasn't exactly been the easiest. While she continues to draw eyes to the women's game at an unprecedented level, Clark has endured her fair share of rough patches through the first few games of her professional career.

She has seemingly been the target of a heightened level of physicality from her peers, and the Indiana Fever haven't exactly excelled as they've won just two games entering their contest Friday night against the Washington Mystics.

But amidst all the hullabaloo, Clark has been proving that she belongs at her place near the top of the WNBA perch. Back on May 28, the Fever star put up a stat line that only four players in WNBA history have tallied, putting her with such esteemed company at such a young age.

On Friday, Clark one-upped herself by putting up numbers that only she has reached in a single game in the entire history of the league.

Caitlin Clark put up 30 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals while making seven triples (going 8-for-15 from the field, 7-for-13 from deep), becoming the first player to notch those numbers in a single game, per StatMamba on Twitter (X).

And on top of her individual greatness, Clark finally saw her efforts translate to the win column as the Fever took a rare win over the Mystics, 85-83.

As if Clark wasn't done setting records, by making seven threes against the Mystics, she tied the record for most made triples in a single game for a rookie. The record was previously held by Crystal Robinson, who was way ahead of her time as a long-range sniper.

Moreover, according to ESPN, she also became the first player in WNBA history to tally at least 200 points and 75 assists through the first 12 games of her career.

Given how famous Clark is, it's only natural for her to spark some wild fan reactions following her historic game. The Fever guard came into the league as perhaps the most hyped-up prospect of all time, and she showed that she's well worth the fanfare.

“She is definitely the Chosen like I be telling you everyone even my daughters #CaitlinClark #TheChosenOne #WNBA,” one fan wrote. Wrote another, “Caitlin Clark is generational talent in the making. It’s just year 1 give her more experience over the years it’s gonna get scary.”

Clark must have been compiling bulletin board material to motivate herself even further. After all, a major media outlet published a WNBA rookie rankings that had the Fever guard outside the top five.

“ESPN ranks Caitlin Clark the 6th best rookie?!🤨 Caitlin Clark: Hold my beer!” expressed one cheery supporter.

Caitlin Clark continues to change the game, and her rise to the top is pulling with it the entire women's sport. She may not be a perfect player, but there's no denying that the Fever guard is one of the most exciting players to watch in any sport today.

Caitlin Clark continues to be a magnet for viewership

The Caitlin Clark effect is real, and it is here to stay. Clark did nothing but make waves during her stint in Iowa, and the support she gathered during her college days continues to translate.

During the Fever's win against the Mystics on Friday night, the WNBA drew a record number of fans at Capital One Arena. They drew 20,033 fans at the venue, setting an all-time record for the league, and it came in a game between two teams that had two combined wins entering the night.

Clark continues to be a spectacle in the vein of the Harlem Globetrotters that even fans of the opposing team flock to the arena in droves just to witness her play. Many came to ask Clark for her autograph even though the Fever provided no reprieve to the Mystics by handing them their 11th-straight defeat of the season.

Washington still remains winless on the season, but fans in the nation's capital still seemed to go home with a moral victory thanks to the sheer joy that came with watching Clark play.

“Caitlin Clark isn’t just famous in her own stadium, THIS IS A FREAKING AWAY GAME!!!!. That’s the Clark effect,” one fan wrote. Wrote another, “Caitlin Clark be selling out 17k+ arenas at away games & the crowd sounds like it's a home game, she forreal the face of this league 🤣🤣.”

Caitlin Clark and the Fever will have two days off before they take on the still-undefeated Connecticut Sun. That game will be on the road as well, and yet it will come as a surprise to exactly no one if tickets sell out yet again.
